Alabama Music Hall of Fame Celebrating Life & Work of Oak Ridge Boys Member William Lee Golden
(Nashville) The Alabama Music Hall of Fame is honoring iconic singer William Lee Golden with a rare exhibition of his dynamic and powerful paintings. The museum will launch the display of the William Lee Golden Art Collection which is set to run from September 3-November 14, 2008. A 19-piece body of work will be showcased, providing a glimpse of the legendary artist’s vision of the world through the beauty of nature and vivid language of color. The exhibition will chronicle scenes and snapshots from his extraordinary travels and career, reflecting Golden’s strong value and appreciation for our country’s history and natural environment.
Organizers say the exhibition is designed to encourage visitors and fans to explore, experience, and enjoy the expressive artwork of the Brewton native. “We at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame are proud that William Lee Golden is honoring us by allowing us to exhibit his paintings. This great entertainment representative of our state is widely known as a talented and visionary singer with the Oak Ridge Boys, but he has also become very accomplished as an artist,” says Executive Director David Johnson.
Golden is an Alabama Music Hall of Fame inductee and a Lifework Award for Performing Achievement recipient. He calls the exhibit a great honor and priceless opportunity. His long-time commitment to the AMHF is something that officials say has had lasting and rewarding impact. “William Lee is one of our very special inductees who has always played an active role with the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, such as bringing his Harvest Jam to Tuscumbia as a fundraiser for us, performing at our induction and awards banquets, playing in our golf tournaments and generally being a good friend and ambassador for us,” Johnson explains.
Among Golden’s featured paintings for the exhibit is Bush Garden. The piece was done in honor of former President George & First Lady Barbara Bush, depicting the breathtaking garden at their Kennebunkport, Maine estate. Mrs. Bush describes the artwork as a family joy and treasure.
